About Us The Non-Governmental Organisations Coordinating Council (NGOCC) was established by a few Zambian women NGOs in 1985, about 23 years ago, after the United Nations' World conference on women held in Nairobi Kenya. Prior to it's establishment, NGOs worked in isolation. It was, however, realized that the process of empowering women needed concerted effort and hence, NGOCC was born to facilitate networking; nationally and internationally. |

NATIONAL BUDGET IS GENDER BLIND - NGOCC NGOCC preliminary analysis of the 2009 national budget has revealed a raw deal for the women of Zambia. The NGOCC gender analysis team noted with concern that in general the increments being alluded to in the 2009 budget were actually negative increments when one takes into account the inflation rate of 16%. NGOCC would have also expected that the national budget would demonstrate positive discrimination in its allocation by deliberately targeting the marginalized groups such as women and children through using the gender budgeting tool for instance. |
